Ranch Run

Ranch Runs are supported by Colorado CattleWomen as opportunities to promote beef in our local communities. 5K Ranch Runs have been held through our local affiliates across the state as fun, family-friendly events featuring beef on the menu and as prizes. Often, Ranch Runs are held as "poker runs" where the participants pick a card from each station, and the best hand at the end of the race wins a prize!

Coming up on Sunday, October 3, 2021, plan to join the Routt County CattleWomen for a fun, family 5K event on the backroads of Steamboat Springs from the Sherrod’s Centennial Ranch to the Daughenbaugh Ranch, especially designed to promote agriculture and beef raised in our valley. Registration information to come!

Washington County CattleWomen are holding a 5K run July 31 as part of their county fair. Gunnison County CW is hosting a 5K on September 26.

In Fall 2020, the Washington County CattleWomen (WCCW) found an opportunity to hold a fun outdoor event for the community including their first annual WCCW 5K Poker Ranch Run. They provided Colorado Beef Council educational goodie bags and the portable Beef Cut Puzzle on showcase. Along the course were clever, eye-catching motivational signs that were all beef themed. They had five checkpoints where each runner picked up a single playing card to make up their 5-card poker hand. At the end of the race, each participant was given a shredded beef breakfast burrito donated by the WCCW. The winner of the Poker Hand won a quarter of beef donated by Harman Family Farms. The male and female race winner each won a $50 gift card to Colorado Craft Beef. They found this event to be successful, and with a race under their belt, hope to improve and expand on it in the coming years.
