During the banquet at the Midwinter Conference for CCW and CCA, CCW recognized two members as the Colorado CattleWoman of the Year and Colorado CattleWoman Rookie of the Year. These awards are given to members from across the state that excel locally and state wide in their work to help promote beef.

This year, two members from Back Mesa CattleWomen were recognized for their commitment to the beef industry. Karen Todd, from Crawford, was honored as the Colorado CattleWoman of the Year. She has been very involved locally by serving in several offices, organizing many annual activities and giving educational presentations in schools. Heidi Simpson, from Paonia, was honored as the Colorado CattleWoman Rookie of the Year. She is also very involved locally and was a 2013 National Beef Speakers Bureau trainee.

Thank you Karen and Heidi for you dedication to this organization and to promoting beef! As Heidi says, “it is a challenge to keep current with beef industry issues, but our goal is to share the beef story with as many people as we can. Promoting and protecting what we love is a responsibility that each of us is called to do.
