CCW DONATES TO CCA FOR BUILDING FUND

When you think of "HOME", several words come to mind for all of us; an open door, a welcoming smile, and someone who is happy to see you and is invested in your success. When the Colorado Cattle Women think of these things, there is no doubt that the Colorado Cattlemen's Association is the place we call "HOME". The CCA has been a key part of our success in ways we could never thank enough or repay.
We are excited that CCA is "going home" to the historic exchange building and are proud to be a part of that effort. In great appreciation, the Colorado Cattlewomen are pleased to present Steve Wooten and the CCA a gift of $10K toward CCA's building fund.

Congratulations to our 2019 CCW Cattlewoman and Rookie of the Year!
Sallie Miller and Lacie Harman
The purpose of the Cattlewomen of the Year award is to honor and recognize a Colorado CattleWoman/CowBelle who has represented the Colorado CattleWoman and the cattle industry by providing leadership in organization, promotion, education, and/or legislative activities.
This year's award winner has worked tirelessly for many years not only at her local level and community but throughout the state of Colorado, as well as nationally for our beef industry. You can find her teaching children about our industry, preparing a delicious beef meal for groups such as the Colorado Farm Show, hosting tours at her family's operation, traveling to foreign countries such as China and Japan to promote beef, or helping with calving and processing at home. She has served with the Weld County Cattlewomen, the Colorado Cattlewomen, the Colorado Beef Council, and Federation of State Beef Councils. It would be impossible to list every contribution that she has made to our industry. A few comments we received on her nomination form were: "Sallie is the quintessential Cattlewoman. She is always ready to help, no matter what is required. She will shop and cook for local fund raisers; she will take time from work to educate kids about the beef industry at festivals and in classrooms; and give of her time to serve on State and National committees. Sallie and her family are always willing to host visitors on their ranch and explain about raising cattle on the High Plains. In addition to all her volunteer hours for the Cattlewomen, Sallie also volunteers with Common Ground. Common Ground is a grass roots organization that allows farm and ranch women to have conversations with urban counterparts. She has been involved with Common Ground for 4 years. She “puts a face” on our industry." |
The CCW Rookie of the Year award's purpose is to honor and recognize a new Colorado CattleWoman/CowBelle who has served and promoted the programs and purposes of CCW in an outstanding manner.
This year's Rookie of the Year has a strong desire to educate about beef production and promote beef consumption, especially in her local area. This passion led her to form the Washington County Cattlewomen's group and she has served as it's president since 2018. This has allowed for a platform to educate her local community outreach about local, state, and national impact of agriculture plus the benefits of beef consumption for a healthy diet. She also serves at the state level as a Northeast Regional Representative for CCW, a valuable role in keeping the local chapters connected with CCW. Lacie's passion for the beef industry has greatly benefited Colorado and we know that she will continue to make a positive impact for agriculture in whatever she does. A quote from her nomination form states "It didn't take me long after meeting Lacie to figure out that her drive and determination along with her intelligence were going to be magnificent assets for not only CCW but for the beef industry." |
